We have just learned that we have been selected as a finalist in the Community Group of the Year category in the Pride of Cumbria Awards 2023. The panel of judges chose their shortlists from nominations received across the whole of the county and all finalists will be announced in all of our newspaper titles in the next couple of weeks. I will of course share this when I find out more. All we can say from all of us here at CERG is that we are very proud to have served our local community since our formation in 2016 and we're keeping everything crossed!!!

Please see the link above about this new initiative by the government. Emergency Alerts is a UK government service that will warn you if there’s a danger to life nearby. In an emergency, your mobile phone or tablet will receive an alert with advice about how to stay safe. There will be a test of this system on 23 April 2023

The government does not need to know your phone number or location to send you an alert.

Reasons you might get an alert

You may get alerts about:

  • severe flooding

  • fires

  • extreme weather

Emergency alerts will only be sent by:

  • the emergency services

  • government departments, agencies and public bodies that deal with emergencies

Just click on the link to find out more, examples of what it might look like and how to respond
