Welcome to the official launch of the Met Office's winter WeatherReady campaign which aims to raise awareness of the actions people can take to prepare for and mitigate the impacts of severe weather on an individual, family and community basis #WeatherReady. Information will be hosted on the WeatherReady website hub where you can find weather-related advice covering the themes of getting out and about in winter, staying well in cold weather and taking care of your family and home. Have a look - you might find it of use!

A notable day

After receiving plaudits from both Prince William and the Prime Minister for their efforts working to support the vaccination rollout locally, Cockermouth Emergency Response Group volunteers attended the ‘last clinic’ for those seeking their second vaccinations. One of these regular volunteers had an extra special ‘uniform’ when High Sheriff of Cumbria wore his uniform! David Beeby has volunteered regularly for CERG previously and expressed his thanks to all the staff at the surgery and the volunteers who have made this so successful.

CERG were also delighted to receive a donation from the partners at the surgery who were keen to support them after all the hours the amazing volunteers had given. The donation of £5250 will help to buy equipment and pay for some of the annual running costs for CERG who currently have no regular funding and who have been reliant upon grants from the Cumbria Community Foundation to date.
